Ok so this is my piece, and the idea behind it is that I am going to do the 5 different tastes: Salty, sweet, bitter, sour, and umami. You probably can tell this painting is slightly unfinished - I hope to update it before Wednesday so it looks less choppy. I also wanted to know what you guys thought about the idea of adding the word Salty to the bottom - probably doing different values of blue/purple because I feel like it might help balance the yellow and make the content clearer. Thanks for your comments! Also the piece is 18 x 18 so larger than all of my other pieces.

Your idea for the series is very unique and connects well to your current exploration of this theme (I am especially excited for umami, as I had never heard of that before!). I agree with your idea to paint the word "salty" in purple/blue as both a point of contrast and to just express your content a bit clearer. However, I believe that once the series is complete, having all of the images side-by-side will make the content much more obvious. Are you planning on doing people with different skin tones/facial features/genders for each painting, or the same person each time? And will the color palettes be the same? I see the areas where I'm assuming you will go back over -- the background, around the nose, maybe, the chin, etc. My only advice is to pay close attention to the little blank spots so that you fill in all of the areas you have missed. Otherwise, this is an excellent painting, and I'm so proud of you for scaling up!

I love how the cropping of the piece draws your eye directly to the chip heading into the mouth. I personally don’t think you need the word on the piece and instead I would just make it the title of your piece. I think people will be able to connect the dots, especially when the series is completed. I can’t wait to see the finished thing!

I really love this Helen! The whole thing is just so well done but I am particularly impressed by the hand. I think the whole concept is so creative and will look great as a series. I do like the idea of maybe adding some text, have you considered continuing with your code? I also think adding some contrasting color could be beneficial. Great job!

Oh my god Helen incredible craftsmanship as always. I actually am really intrigued by the content of this piece, because I think it’ll create a beautiful series that will look unique by themselves, and amazing to hang up side by side. Personally, I see how writing salty would be better for the viewer’s understanding of the content but I don’t really think it would fit in well on your canvas. Instead how about just doing a simple text labeling underneath each individual canvas so that when they are all together it is clear what the content means. I love love love the color scheme of this painting. Amazing job heheh :)

This is a really cool painting. I like the concept that you are portraying, The mouth biting into the chip is super successful in portraying your content, and it really like it. Personally I don't think you should add salty in writing to your painting because I don't think it would physically fit, and if all five of your paintings are next to each other, it should be pretty clear without it. When you work on finishing this I would suggest you try to make the hand and the face closer to the same color so that it looks more cohesive, but great job regardless.

For starters, I LOVE the composition of this piece. I think it's super interesting and catches my eye. Also your hand is extremely impressive. I know the piece isn't completely finished and I think my only polish would be just to clean up some of the details, but other than that it looks super good. I think adding the words on the bottom would add more to the composition and make the content clearer. If you picked a good font I think it would benefit the piece a lot. I know you've been doing a lot of drawings so I'm super impressed with your painting ability. This series is gonna look so so amazing
