Yay! I finally finished my inclass project! I spent a day doing the fingers, which were really difficult for some reason. I srtill wish I had gotten a little bit darker values, but overall I'm happy with how they look. Then I painted the background, and then I did the shirt, which actually looks pretty good. Then I finished the chocolate and added more texture before redoing the teeth, because they really needed some work. In comparison with my past pieces, I think this one is definitely the most vibrant and I think that's due to the orange underpainting. Overall I'm really happy with it! Although there's definitely a few tweaks I might have made with more time, but now I'm scared to mess it up haha. I did not get much work done on my at-home because I was focused on this one.

This week I worked a lot more on my in-class project. I kept working on skin tone, and added the lips and started working on the chocolate piece. I hopefully can finish up the fingers and chocolate piece this week before doing the background before Monday's critique. I also started really working on my second piece. The model has more yellow undertones so I'm trying to balance that with my tendency to use purple as a shadow without making green. Overall, everything is turning out pretty well - I definitely need to spend more time working on the at-home piece though.
So this week, I made pretty good progress on my in-class project. I'm still experimenting with skin tones, because I want it to be redder than my last painting. I think moving onto next week I'll try mixing more paint at a time to be able to blend easier. Hopefully I can finish the face and move on to the fingers and chocolate. For my at-home project, I picked the photo shown and sketched it onto the canvas. I hoped to get more done, but luckily I have a little more time for that project.
On Monday, I got started with the actual painting of my in-class piece. I'm using a mix of light cadmium red, yellow ochre, titanium white, and a little bit of ultramarine blue. In my last piece I accomplished shadows by adding blue, but this time I'm trying to use more red. I also went to get my photos for my at home piece sour. I'm going to pick one of these photos and then start on that next week, I went ahead and did the underpainting on Friday.
